Interestingly, in 1998 Ecuador’s Constitution was amended to “recognize the equality of all before the law without discrimination in age, sex, ethnic origin, color, religion, political affiliation, economic status, sexual orientation, health status, disability or difference of any kind.”

Since that change, a respected gay scene has developed in Quito and Guayaquil, leading to the opening of gay clubs, cafes, hotels, and restaurants; several options for those who love not only nature and adventures, but also “la farra” ( a party in Ecuador).
